My Florida Adoptions provides adoption education and guidance and creates a safe place for expectant parents and birth parents considering adoption. We want our clients to feel fully supported throughout their adoption journey. Our purpose is to empower our clients to create a personalized adoption plan that is right for them and their baby.

  • What services does My Florida Adoption provide?

It varies greatly, but My Florida Adoptions will provide individualized case management based on your personal situation and needs. The services that our Florida adoption agency typically provides expectant parents or birth mothers with include financial assistance, adoption counseling during and after the process, legal representation, assistance with selecting an adoptive family for your child, as well as adoption and hospital planning.

  • What does financial assistance include?

Per Florida law, prospective adoptive parents may provide reasonable living expenses which include rent, utilities, phone, food, toiletries, clothing, and transportation.  Medical and other expenses are available on a case-by-case basis. These expenses can be paid for the length of the pregnancy and six weeks postpartum.

  • Are there any costs to me?

No.  All of the expectant mother's costs are paid by the prospective adoptive parents, including living expenses, counseling, and legal representation.

  • How do I pick a family?

Our families go through a detailed screening process to make sure they are educated and prepared to adopt.  You will receive profile books based upon your preferences for an adoptive family.

  • Does the father of the baby have to be involved?

The birth father’s involvement in the adoption plan is important.  However, we know that situations arise when the unmarried biological father cannot or refuses to be involved.  It is important to provide as much information pertaining to the birth father(s)/legal father to My Florida Adoptions so we can take all legal steps required to protect your adoption plan.

  • When is my adoption decision final?

In the state of Florida, a Consent for Adoption cannot be executed until 48 hours after the birth of the baby  unless the birth mother has been medically discharged from the hospital prior to the 48 hours. Once executed, it is permanent and binding upon execution.  If the child is over the age of six (6) months, you will have three (3) business days to change your mind.

  • Can I have an open adoption?

Yes, it is your choice as to the level of openness you have in your adoption plan. You may choose to meet the adoptive parents and build a relationship with them prior to delivery.  After delivery, you can receive picture and letter updates and/or visits if you desire.  Or you may choose to have no future contact or updates. At My Florida Adoptions, we will assist you in finding an adoptive family who desires the same level of openness as you.

  • How long is counseling available to me?

We know the adoption journey lasts long after your adoption plan ends.  My Florida Adoptions provides adoption counseling to you anytime throughout your adoption plan and in the future at no cost.
